86 The Silence.

A bilingual mental health education and resource initiative built specifically for the hospitality sector.

eighty-six | /ˈeɪdiˌsɪks/ | verb, informal — to reject, discard, or cancel. In food service: to indicate that an item is no longer available. We're 86-ing the silence around mental health.

The Program

H.F.T.D.'s 86 The Silence workshop is designed to teach individuals in the hospitality industry how to understand self-care and support proactive mental health care for others. We press the discussion about stigma, its impact on individuals and communities, and teach practical skills for early recognition of mental health challenges that often go unaddressed — building to a crisis stage.

You serve your community. Now, let's support it.

Join us in coming together for an amazing meal to help prevent suicide in the hospitality segment.

Our friends at Maxwell's Trading have put together an exclusive dining experience - we'll start in the rooftop gardens and make our way through a private, family style meal in their Maxwell's Upstairs room and follow it up with with a nightcap on the terrace.

Food service industry has the highest illicit drug use rate (19.1%).

In 2025, 47% of hospitality employees reported that burnout was "part of the job."

51% identifying their jobs as stressful most or all of the time.

Conversation Starters Campaign

Since starting the campaign, over 200 craft beverage partners in 5 countries raised nearly $200,000 for H.F.T.D.'s proactive prevention programs.

We educated 350 people and distributed 25,000+ free mental health resources — all because a single product started a global conversation.
