In conjunction with MediaChron Productions, Hope For the Day announces the release of its most recent film To My Family, a compelling American drama written and directed by David Azer that offers audiences a real life depiction of mental illness, told through the lens of the personal diary of a troubled sixteen-year-old boy.

To My Family is a powerful drama that offers audiences a real life depiction of mental illness, told through the lens of the personal diary of a troubled sixteen-year-old boy. Tyler has always had a hard time communicating with others. With the help of a video diary, he attempts to tell his family how he really feels. Baring his soul more than he ever wished, we see the complexity of his mind peer through the cracks as he struggles through the highs and lows of Bipolar Disorder, Social Anxiety, and his own erratic thoughts.

The lead character Tyler, played by Ecuadorian actor Mauricio Antonio, has always had a hard time communicating with others. With the help of a video diary, he attempts to tell his family how he really feels. Baring his soul more than he ever wished, we see the complexity of his mind peer through the cracks as he struggles through the highs and lows of Bipolar Disorder, Social Anxiety, and his own erratic thoughts.

David Azer, an American filmmaker of Mexican and Egyptian descent, admits that To My Family’s message is personal for him and touches really close to home. He graduated from the Film and Animation program at San Francisco State University in 2010, his award winning film, The Visitor, was featured at several international film festivals.

Along his journey, Azer became aware of Hope For The Day, reached out and shared his story and passion for creating a film that would resonate with vast audiences and drive home the importance of awareness, understanding and support for those struggling with various mental illnesses and thoughts of suicide.

To My Family, Azer’s first feature film compliments the creation of such an environment, and is poised for a strong 2018 domestic and film festival run. The indie project is already receiving widespread interest and gaining buzz with the media.
