Art Gives Me Hope 2017 Round Up!

By: Alexandra Beste

The 5th annual Art Gives Me Hope was a smashing success! We couldn't have done it without the amazing support of the contributing artists, sponsors and community partners who truly made the evening a celebration of life.

Featuring great work from numerous artists, the art show attracted more than 500 people. Thank you to all the attendees who joined us at Communitas to enjoy amazing artwork, fantastic food and good company! Events like these are the reason HFTD has been able to spread the conversation on our mental health across North America, Europe, and Australia. Art Gives Me Hope honours the communities in Chicago where we started our work and celebrates the value of self-expression.

With 100% of the proceeds from the art show benefitting Hope For The Day’s proactive suicide prevention programs, our outreach continues to grow, enabling us to enhance our tools to educate and empower individuals to be the one to start the conversation in their community.

Art Gives Me Hope would not have been possible without the efforts of Dark Matter Coffee and Threadless. Thank you to Lance Curran & Threadless for curating the pieces of work. We are deeply grateful to Dark Matter Coffee for all the time and resources they committed not only to the art show, but to so many of our efforts. Their combined help and work, both this year and in the past, helped bring the event to fruition!

A big shout out to Communitas as well for providing a fantastic venue for the art show! We also want to say a massive thank you to all the artists who donated their time and work:

The diverse selection of art donated by this eclectic list of artists from Chicago and around the world were the highlight of this year's Art Gives Me Hope! We're thankful to have had drinks and food generously provided by our friends Dark Matter Coffee, Essentia Water, Uncle Dougies, Osteria Via Stato, Nacional 27, Tallboy Taco, and Pork Shoppe. Lastly, a huge thanks to all the staff and volunteers who organized, set up, and helped out at the art show!
